Washington D.C. (August 2, 2017) — Atlas Corps Founder and CEO, Scott Beale, for the second year running, received the distinct honor of being named to the “Power & Influence Top 50 2017” by The NonProfit Times.
The list, in its 20th year, annually honors the nonprofit sector’s most influential leaders. This recognition is an organizational milestone that acknowledges the achievements that Scott and Atlas Corps have made within the sector through the innovative use of long-term professional exchange. It is a recognition especially significant as Atlas Corps embarks on an exciting new expansion on both domestic and international fronts.
In announcing the news, The Nonprofit Times wrote, “Beale struck an international nerve with Atlas Corps, which receives more than 1,000 applicants monthly despite a limited budget and a less than 2 percent acceptance rate. It’s not about exporting U.S. nonprofit ideas. It’s about being better at the work. His words: “Feeling of purpose is not enough.” It’s metrics, correction and getting better at what the sector does.”
“This honor is a team win for Atlas Corps,” shared Scott. “It reflects on the impact our Fellows are having while volunteering in the U.S. for one year and strengthening U.S. organization. We’ve opened the global talent pool to advance the missions of social change organizations in the U.S. and we are proving that diversity strengthens organizations. Currently there seems to be debate in society about whether to cooperate internationally or whether diversity is a positive or negative force. Atlas Corps Fellows and Host Organizations are proving every day that global, diverse talent advances organizations and a larger social good.”
Under Scott’s leadership, Atlas Corps established an innovative method of developing and connecting global leaders through long-term international exchange for social change leaders from around the world. The Atlas Corps network includes more than 600 leaders from 87 different countries who have served at 220 organizations in the U.S., Colombia, and Australia.
Atlas Corps congratulates this year’s nominees and gives a special shout out to individuals from Atlas Corps Partner Organizations, which include: Acumen Fund, Goodwill Industries International, CARE USA, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children and InterAction.
Atlas Corps will celebrate this honor during the Atlas Corps Soirée at The Event Space on Saturday, September 16. More at http://events.atlascorps.org.
