Atlas Corps Community Celebrates Diversity and Inclusion at Annual Gala
To the Fellows in the room, you give us hope. Your passion to change the world and to leave a positive mark will make it a better place!
-Dr. Rohini Anand, recipient of the 2019 Atlas Corps Global Changemaker Award
Exactly! Atlas Corps Fellows inspire hope combined with a passion to improve our world. Fellows are the heart of Atlas Corps. When Scott Beale founded Atlas Corps in 2006, it was this realization that motivated him and a small group of confidants to embark on this unforgettable journey that is now Atlas Corps—a thriving community of 750 professionals from 95 countries who have served at more than 250 organizations AND the thousands of individuals who support them. On Saturday, November 16, friends and Fellows gathered to celebrate these achievements at the Atlas Corps Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion Gala at Eaton DC.
This annual event is an opportunity to showcase the talents of the Atlas Corps community while also generating valuable support for the organization. Highlights of Saturday’s event included:
- Presentation of the Atlas Corps Global Changemaker Award to Dr. Rohini Anand, Senior Vice President Corporate Responsibility and Global Chief Diversity Officer for Sodexo. (watch the highlights – starting at 7:00).
- Performance of an original spoken word piece by Atlas Corps Fellow Patience (Nigeria, Host: Teen Empowerment). (watch the highlights – starting at 4:20).
- Inspiring remarks by the Chair of the Atlas Corps Board of Directors Whitney Hunter-Thomson and Atlas Corps Founder & CEO Scott Beale. (watch the highlights – starting at 18:40).
The 2019 theme, “celebrate diversity and inclusion,” is inspired by the corps values of Atlas Corps. As an organization, Atlas Corps values and thrives because of diversity. Diverse perspectives foster the development of better ideas and more effective solutions for tackling social challenges. We also strongly value inclusivity. True inclusivity means actively engaging and including the voices and perspectives of individuals from different races, ethnicities, and religions, as well as of different socioeconomic status, gender, sexual identity, and more. To learn more about our Fellow network, we invite you to meet them at fellows.atlascorps.org.
The Gala also generated valuable support for Atlas Corps as we try to achieve our goal of raising $100,000 before the end of the year. Thanks to the generosity of the attendees Atlas Corps has almost achieved our goal. Learn more at donate.atlascorps.org!
In addition to the attendees, Atlas Corps sends a special thank you to our Board, Host Committee, and Sponsors for an inspiring evening.
