Two weeks ago,
Atlas Corps and IBM Cooperate Service Corps launched a partnership (first of it kind) to help non profit organizations in New York including Sheltering Arms to continue to develop best practices for their service to communities.
IBM staff from different parts of the world are working alongside Atlas Corp fellows in these organizations to address the most critical challenges these organizations face in their day-to- day work. Being an Atlas Corps fellow, I feel like perhaps, this is a partnership that was meant to be. Otherwise bringing talents from all over the world with diverse perspectives to work on social issues here in the United State would seem pretty much unlikely. And am so honored to be a part of this.
The last two weeks have been engaging and informative for us at Sheltering Arms as we we try to help the organization be at it best in demonstrating the impacts of their work on the children and families they serve.
In this regard, the CSC team has engaged staff at different levels; from management to field level using design thinking to identify the real challenges and proffer workable solutions by the end of the project.
Personally, I feel like this is a great experience, having the opportunity to learn about different contexts and perspectives, and using that to address critical issues affecting communities.
Am so excited even as we get into the third week knowing that great things will definitely happen.
