July 7th, 2019. My first week as an Atlas Corps fellow just started. Too much joy, excitement, determination and energy! Bring it on! I’m ready for it all!
I am in the presence of 20 leaders from all over the world, willing to make a change! A strong, smart, funny, diverse and impressive group of people! I couldn’t be any luckier!
I am serving at BoodleAI as a Business Analyst, an IT startup passionate about working with nonprofits and tech empowerment. Learning about Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning and the nonprofit sector plus digging into the business analysis represent a great opportunity for a geek and a curious one like me!
The “icing on the cake” was the Atlas Corps staff! A support system that meets our varied needs and is consistent with the fellowship goals! They excelled in creating a friendly and welcoming environment from day one. And just like that, we became a family. Class 36.
“Why anxiety then ?”, you may ask. I don’t really know. Homesick ? For sure. Uncertain outcome? Yes. Stepping out from my comfort zone? Definitely. Different Environment and culture? Oh yes!
Feelings of unease and nervousness started growing inside of me, session after session at Atlas Corps office. I was in the middle of amplifying my anxiety by questioning every single thing happening until a fellow, Chewe F. Mulenga, came to set to next me, and showed me an article he’d just came across. “Read this, it’s beautiful”, he said.
The title said “Everything Is A Miracle”, and what I read was : “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
Everything fell into place after that. Despite those negative feelings, I knew that I’m in the right place. I was where I was supposed to be, doing what I should be doing. Period.
I chose to believe that everything is a miracle and indeed, the best is yet to come!
Thank you Chewe!
