I didn’t choose the PM life, the PM life chose me!
Like seriously I don’t know anyone who grows up thinking, “I’d like to be a project manager when I grow up” but project management for me has happened organically in the planning, organizing and managing of efforts to accomplish goals in a defined timespan. Alot of us are constantly project managing even when we are not and so I decided to embark on this journey to learn about different tools and techniques that make successful project managers. There are some tools out there that I love using and I am constantly evolving, learning in this space. its not a static learning curve but a process of discovering what works best for your organisation and your project. Here are some of my go-to’s:
- Trello – I basically use it to project manage my life- trips, parties, my week, love it! and its like playing Solitaire. Great integration with Slack if you already use that
- SmartSheet – just started using it recently and really where has Smartsheet been all my life? Great integration, awesome for collaboration. Check it out!
- Slack – Love it for some team collaboration and communication! and the channels are great for some team brain dumps!
- Excel – still a golden oldie and everyday I discover new things about Excel, so many functions.
