May 30 has marked an international day of feminism. The date came to be with the remembrance of the day of assassination of Joan de Ark on May 30, 1431. Traditionally this day is commemorated by a variety of activist and educational events – conferences, lectures, seminars focused on tacking the issues of feminism and its reflection in the society. A number of fundraising activities also take place aiming to raise resources for social projects. The major goal of the day an the issues it brings attention to includes- but not limited to – addressing gender based violence, domestic violence, reproductive rights and fight for equal and overall advocacy for equality and fight against sexism, patriarchy and change of the existing paradigm.

And wishing for all  to see the day when everyone will recognize the importance of advocating for safety, equality and equal opportunities.

And in case you are unfamiliar with this talk by the storyteller, author and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – I highly recommend

it.
