Rana has five years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with double minors in Political Science and International Marketing from the University of Jordan. While working as the Grants Administrator Specialist for SFH, her community-minded team player mentality enabled her to be the founder of many community-based initiatives. Previously, Rana worked as a Case Manager for the Danish Refugees Council. She helped raise awareness about amnesty regulations, particularly in civil legal documentation and protection. At the same time, she facilitated programs to help refugees obtain necessary civil documents and worked within a consortium with other partnering organizations on resolving various protection cases. Rana has also worked as a Technical Education Assistant with the Norwegian Refugees Council in Azraq Refugees Camp. In that role, she worked on building the capacity of the youth by guiding adolescents-led initiatives in camps. She also added to the education program by creating the Exam Anxiety Program to help traumatized children achieve better learning outcomes by overcoming their anxieties. Additionally, she refined the tools used in obtaining children’s feedback through the Child Based Complaint Mechanism scheme. Through these experiences, she has developed strong social innovation and project implementation skills, particularly in the education sphere. Rana’s positive self-starting nature in emerging entrepreneurial projects led her to take a further step towards change by establishing EnvaTechs: a startup that uses immersive technologies in Environmental Education in schools.

Yassine is an Entrepreneur and Consultant, with a strong interest in Youth Empowerment, Civic Engagement, Social Innovation, and 4th Industrial Revolution. He holds a Master of Engineering in Information Systems from Mohammedia School of Engineers (2010) and a Certified Executive Coach from Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholders Centered Coaching (2017). Since 2018, Yassine is also a US Professionnel Fellow on Civic Engagement. After the completion of his Master’s degree, he joined IBM for 5 years as a Consultant in the MEA Consulting By Degrees program, before taking on the role of Project Manager on IBM’s ITS team. Then, he became a Sales Leader with IBM’s STG Department. Between 2015-2016, Yassine joined Enactus, then Amideast, as Entrepreneurship Consultant and Program Manager to teach and coach hundreds of youth about entrepreneurship and to manage all aspects of the programs with all stakeholders. Those experiences enabled him to sharpen his entrepreneurial and analytical skills, and tailor his business acumen. In April 2017, Yassine founded “Millennials Consulting”, which aims to provide integrated solutions (consultancy, training and coaching) for a better understanding, integration, and impact of millennials in schools, companies, and society. In June 2018, Yassine founded “CitizenUp”, a “CivicTech” startup that provides a citizen social platform that helps brands switch CSR, SDGs & philanthropy into an awarded, managed, tangible, showcased, and reported social impact. Yassine is a member of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. He is currently founder of #TheMoroccanButterfly initiative: a Digital Identity to empower and inspire youth throughout small actions, initiatives, and thoughts (Butterfly Effect).

Role at Miller Center for Social EntrepreneurshipAt Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship, Santa Clara University, Yassine will serve as the 2019-2020 GSBI Women’s Economic Empowerment Fellow: building a stronger pipeline of program-ready, female-led and/or female-focused social entrepreneurs.

Tassia is an experienced communications specialist with a diverse background in marketing, politics, entrepreneurship and advocacy. She began her career at Jamaica’s Investment Promotion Agency (JAMPRO), gaining unparalleled experience in international business and destination marketing. JAMPRO’s global focus provided her early exposure to functioning at a high level and engaging a myriad of partners and stakeholders, both in Jamaica and across the world. Tassia has refined her craft over the years through volunteering and working with various projects, some funded by international development organisations such as the World Bank, EU and the IDB. She has served in a communications support role to Jamaica’s former Minister of National Security, and was an integral member of the team that developed the Ministry’s Unite for Change project, which leveraged community partnerships and social marketing to support violence prevention initiatives in vulnerable communities. Her diverse work and volunteer experiences have helped her develop strong competencies in development communications, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and community mobilization. A consummate team player, Tassia earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and French from The University of the West Indies, Mona, and is a certified project manager. She is passionate about gender equality, child rights, youth violence prevention, and using technology for social good.

Role at Center for American Red Cross Tassia will serve as the Communications and Community Engagement Fellow: coordinating outreach and marketing.

Shushanna has more than ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Master’s of Information and Public Communication Technologies, PR and Bachelor’s of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, both from the Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences. She also completed an academic exchange year in the U.S. through Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program, administered by the U.S. Department of State. While working as the Senior Adviser for EducationUSA Armenia, supported by the U.S. Department of State, Shushanna managed the EducationUSA center in Armenia. In this role, she actively promoted U.S. higher education by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about educational opportunities in the U.S. and information on how to best access those opportunities. While liaising with U.S. institutions of higher education, she facilitated recruitment, and admission of Armenian students and increased student mobility. Previously, Shushanna worked for World Vision Armenia to build internet safety awareness and promote safe Internet for children. She has volunteered as a camp counselor, reading club instructor, and event coordinator for several organizations in the country, including American Councils Armenia, Capacity and Development for Civil Society NGO, and FLEX Alumni community. Through these experiences, she developed strong communication and marketing, project management and event planning, social media and strategic skills. Shushanna has a strong passion for empowering youth through storytelling and enjoys working on the topics of international education and exchange programs.

Role at Center for Atlas Corps Shushanna will serve as the Leadership Fellow: supporting the overall strengthening of leadership development in the nonprofit sector by helping to expand the American Express Leadership Academy franchise.

Rim is trilingual journalist and activist with six years of experience in journalism (international media outlets) and the nonprofit sector. She earned her Master’s degree in Institutional Journalism from The National School of Journalism and Information Science in Algiers. In 2014, she joined Hivos as an Internet Policy Analyst in the project “IGMENA” (Internet Governance in the Middle East and North Africa). In this role, she conducted research and wrote blog reports about digital rights, including online privacy and data protection. Additionally, she has participated as a speaker and coach in many international and local events. Rim is a part of Jeem, a project to shed light on women’s rights violations in the Arab world, as a Women’s Rights Advocate. She has written many stories and reports describing the situation of Algerian women. Rim has also volunteered as a Communication and Social Media Manager at Crossing Borders (CB), an international organization based in Denmark, where she gained experience in project management, website content management, social media strategy, and magazine editing. She produced CB Magazine (Voices of the Move): collecting and editing human-interest stories about migrants and refugees, and their challenges in integration in the new society. Rim’s goal is to direct the world’s attention onto unlisted and uncovered stories and events, especially unrepresented communities and minorities. She believes in the power of words as a change factor.

Role at Center for Global Press Journal Rim will serve as the Editorial Fellow: collaborating with researchers, editors and reporters to help readers better understand the communities Global Press Journal covers by incorporating research and data into the journalists’ stories.

Nourhan has around three years of experience in journalism. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from The American University in Cairo (AUC) and just completed her law degree at Cairo University. She worked as a reporter in several reputable Egyptian news outlets, including Mada Masr, where she compiled daily press reviews for the Morning Digest, Aswat Masriya, and Daily News Egypt. Previously, she worked as a researcher and archivist at the Law and Society Research Unit at AUC for 1.5 years. There, she conducted socio-legal research and devised archive collection strategies with the aim of compiling legal documents for the digital legal archive Manshurat Qanuneya. Throughout her career, she has primarily focused on human rights issues, media freedoms, judicial affairs, and significant court verdicts in Egypt. She has acquired strong research, writing, editing, outreach, and marketing skills through her various work endeavors. Nourhan finds media governance and criminal justice reform as fields of particular interest and has a strong passion for legal and judicial development in Egypt.

Role at Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy Nourhan will serve as the Bassem Sabry Democracy Fellow: developing an independent research paper or project of her own design in conjunction with TIMEP’s directorial staff.

Marwa is a public-private dialogue projects manager and high-performing executive with four years of experience in improving the business climate in Tunisia. Marwa has two years’ experience in strategic planning and implementing public-private dialogue programs. She has demonstrated an efficiency in staffing, training and development, budgeting, proposal writing, and external communication. She has been leading the National and Regional Business Agenda: projects that advocate for regulatory reforms to boost the private sector investment. Thanks to this program, Marwa has gained an expertise in advocacy and communication. In addition to having conceived advocacy strategies within these projects, she has held advocacy campaigns, such as on the self-entrepreneur draft law, the simplification of administrative procedures draft law and on improving the efficiency of the national port system. She has developed an in-depth knowledge of the fundraising ecosystem. Marwa is also an IACE Representative, she has represented the organization at the national and the international level, including at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress. Marwa has organized events and conferences on gender equality, governance and transparency, and anti-corruption on the natural resources sector in Tunisia.

Role at Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) Marwa will serve as the MENA Fellow: supporting CIPE MENA staff in implementation of projects and initiatives, and assisting with tasks related to all points of the project life cycle.

Mariam is a Development Practitioner with around five years of experience in project design and implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, research, budgeting, and reporting. She is skilled at identifying and mapping potential funders, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with bilateral and multilateral donor organizations, and drafting strategic documents. She has earned her Graduate degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, focusing on development management. Mariam has diverse experience working in the nonprofit field, private sector and international organizations. Recently, she served as an M&E and Grants Specialist at UNDP Georgia, contributing to the strengthening of the vocational education related to agriculture. Mariam’s work focuses on capacity building and empowerment. She has a strong passion for local economic development and is committed to advancing social justice around the globe.

Role at Open Road Alliance Mariam will serve as the Portfolio Fellow: supporting the improved risk management of Open Road’s loan portfolio by maintaining Open Road’s risk score Excel model, updating and improving loan portfolio data, and conducting market research to develop a database of investors, donors, and ecosystem organizations.

Irma Nugrahanti is an experienced project leader with seven years of experience in managing the financial management, program management, operations management, and public relations of complex and cross-cutting projects funded by international donors. Irma has written reports and fund proposals that led to grants awarded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Department for International Development (DFID), Global Britain Fund, and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives. Irma is also a Co-founder of an Indonesian-based charity called Sekolabilitas, which aims to improve education opportunities for disabled children in Indonesia. Her role as a Head of Finance includes fund management, proposal development and community outreaching. Irma holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, sponsored by the Indonesian government (LPDP). After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, she completed a Tourism and Hospitality Management program in the United States, sponsored by The U.S. Department of State. In 2018, The Netherlands awarded her a scholarship to complete a course on Local Economic Development. Beyond her skills and professionalism, she is passionate about economic development, women’s empowerment, education, identity, diversity, and human rights. Irma is not afraid to take a leadership role and has helped lead workshops and panel discussions about global awareness, identity, unity, and diversity. Irma has volunteered in various organizations such as UNICEF, Ethnic Students Association, Women in Business Society, Indonesia Global Mentorship, International Society, and many others. Irma has also received awards in journalism, including an honourable mention in an essay competition, and was a finalist in a news anchor competition.

Role at CARE USA Irma will serve as the Budget Liaison and Project Mobilization Manager: providing comprehensive budget and financial management support to the Policy and Advocacy department under the direction of the Senior Director for Resource Mobilization and in partnership with the CARE finance team.

Ifeoma has over seven years of experience in the not-for-profit sector. Her service has spanned across HIV/AIDS, youth development, community/public health, and peace and conflict resolution fields. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an MBA in Human Resources. Ifeoma is a Peace Scholar, having trained as a Peace and Conflict Resolution Expert at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, and a current Rotary Peace Fellow. As an assiduous learner with an astute mind, Ifeoma garnered skills and knowledge in human capital strategy, human resources wellness, social sector leadership, and more. While at ABN/ NCMG International, she functioned as a Human Resources Personnel, and designed and coordinated programs within the country and internationally. She is skilled in program development, strategic planning, fundraising, project coordination, partnerships, and coalition building. The State Governor of Taraba and the Local Government Counsellor in Wukari awarded Ifeoma for her dedication to the social impact of the not-for-profit sector and for her meritorious and selfless contribution to the state. Ifeoma currently oversees work at the Institute for Work and Family Integration, providing leadership oversight to its employees and developing operational and partnership strategies, amongst others.

Role at Open Government Partnership Ifeoma will serve as the HR Fellow: supporting OGP and the HR Director in the implementation of key HR initiatives, including tasks relating to staff training and professional development programs, performance management, and organizational development.

Concillia has 7 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Marketing from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a Bachelor’s of Science in Journalism and Media Studies from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Zimbabwe. She is an events management enthusiast with particular interest in fundraising, as well as managing events that empower vulnerable communities and underrepresented members of society. She currently works as an Alumni Affairs Officer for NUST. She is responsible for the development of an effective relationship with all university alumni, as well as initiating and implementing fundraising activities and events. She develops, supports and promotes alumni strategy, including operations and communications plans. She is also the University Liaison Officer for the Association of African Universities (AAU), a voluntary position which involves bridging the information gap between NUST and the African universities community. Amongst the various duties in this portfolio is organizing events, such as the African University Week, and creating awareness of the goals and mission of AAU to the NUST community. Previously, Concillia worked for Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company, an events management company, where her role comprised of market research. She spearheaded the company’s business development arm through conceptualization and implementation of new events. Through her educational background coupled with work experience, she has balanced expertise within the field of corporate communications, marketing, fundraising, and project and events management. Concillia enjoys conceptualizing fundraising events for the development of our society, especially the education sector.

Role at Atlas Corps Concillia will serve as the Training Manager Fellow: planning and managing Atlas Corps’ leadership development program for Fellows, Global Leadership Lab (GLL), comprised of over 200 hours of theoretical and practical experiential learning over the Fellowship year.

Chioma is a Legal Officer with Media Rights Agenda (MRA), a non-governmental organization based in Nigeria, which works to promote and defend freedom of expression, access to information, and digital and Internet rights. She is also a Partner in FOI Attorneys, a law firm established by MRA to carry out its freedom of expression and freedom of information (FOI) litigation. Chioma has worked extensively on FOI research, capacity building, advocacy, and campaigns. She is part of the team of experts currently developing the FOI Civil Procedural Rules for High Courts in Nigeria. Through legal research, Chioma assisted in developing the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms, which outlines a number of principles to guide Internet policies and legislation across Africa, and is presently advocating for its acceptance as a reference document. She is also part of a group of specialists reviewing the Declaration on Principles of Freedom of Expression with the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information in Africa. Through MRA, she is involved in the campaign to pass the Digital Rights and Freedom Bill into law in Nigeria. Chioma participated in the Gender and Internet Governance Exchange (GigX) program organized by African Union and the Association for Progressive Communications at Ethiopia to build the relationship between gender, women’s rights, and internet governance. Finally, Chioma is also a part of the FOI litigation-working group for Africa Freedom of Information Center (AFIC).

Role at Internews: Chioma will serve as the Internet Policy Fellow: contributing to country and issue-specific assessments and cooperating with Internews’ Digital Rights team to identify and analyze relevant digital rights policies in countries where they currently work.
