Wilson Saavedra Alcocer
Bolivia (Host: Heartland Alliance International)Tigist has eight years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Education majoring information Technology from Addis Ababa University, and a Diploma in Accounting from Addis Ababa Commercial College of Commerce. She has previously worked as the Senior Grants Compliance Officer with WaterAid Ethiopia which is an international nonprofit organization concerned with the WASH crisis: water, sanitation and hygiene. Previously, Tigist worked for Pact, ICAP Columbia University and Health Poverty Action as Grant Officer and Finance Administration Officer. Her partnership experience provided a great deal of experience in bringing together institutional capabilities and human resources to tackle common problems that are often beyond the capacity of a single organization or groups. Tigist has developed strong skill in project coordination, reporting, budget preparation, grant proposal writing, fundraising techniques and grant management, for USAID, CDC, EU, and DFID donor grants. Tigist volunteers with Rotary International, and has a strong passion for education, social entrepreneurship, and gender and youth empowerment.

Role at Host Organization: Wilson will support the development of knowledge management systems and the sub-award management process. Wilson will also provide legal and contract reviews, and he will coordinate and review the annual budgeting process.

Role at Host Organization: Tigist will be responsible for assisting with the financial management of advocacy department of CARE USA. In addition, she will assist with monitoring and reporting of international advocacy grants, and she will have the opportunity to learn about how CARE utilizes advocacy to help achieve its mission. Tigist will also support the women and girls lead global international advocacy program—an advocacy initiative that receives quarterly reports from offices in five countries.
Tarika Vaswani
India (Host: Magic Bus USA)Tarika has eight years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai; and a Master’s degree in Sociology from S.N.D.T., Mumbai. For her first 6 years at GiveIndia, she was a member of the Online & Retail Giving team. During this time, she increased GiveIndia’s online presence by managing donor communication, and improving the user experience of the website. While Tarika’s primary issue is poverty, her experience also taught her the importance of technology. Because of this, she created a new website that brings grassroots stories of the impact created by GiveIndia’s nonprofits.

Role at Host Organization: Tarika will contribute to the planning and implementation of Magic Bus USA’s digital strategies to promote and advance its mission. Her contributions will include research, donor and other stakeholder communication, social media promotion, and website maintenance and promotion.
Tarig Abdalla Ebrahim
Sudan (Host: Heartland Alliance International)Tarig has seven years of experience in the non-profit sector, and earned a Post Graduate Diplomas in African and Asian Studies from the Institute of African Asian studies University of Khartoum in Sudan. Tarig most recently worked as an Education and Development Program Officer for Women’s Empowerment and Development at GOAL international in Sudan. At GOAL, Tarig developed project design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of human trafficking in refugee camps in eastern Sudan. Tarig helped develop the rural areas in five states through empowering women to have stronger roles in their communities’ decision making through greater self-reliance by having a source of income and better health knowledge. Tarig developed strong project monitoring tools as a means of verifications for these targets, and coordinated their implementation. Previously, Tarig also worked at projects under the UNDP/Irish Aid/DFID and OFDA, and USAID funded women development programs. Tarig is committed to the empowerment of women through development and empowerment community techniques, and he desires to replicate his experience with conflict resolution and peace building by integrating ex-combatants in the civil community.

Role at Host Organization: Tarig will provide support across Heartland Alliance’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E), program development, and operations departments. Tarig will also support successful implementation of programs across HAI’s program portfolios and regions.
Sue Ohe
South Korea (Host: Polaris)Sue has two and a half years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts and Sciences in East Asian Languages and Culture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While working as a Legal Coordinator with International Asylum Protection Team of Refuge pNan, she helped asylum seekers from Africa, Asia, and Middle East with their refugee application and lawsuit filing, interviews, livelihood and social integration throughout their refugee status determination(RSD) procedure. One of her specialties is Country of Origin Information (COI) research, and she had taught at several lectures for Korean pro-bono lawyers and legal clinic students on how to conduct COI research. In 2013, she was a project coordinator of Center for Global Partnership, where she organized a roundtable on refugee resettlement and social integration. In 2014, she conducted field research in Myanmar and Thailand on local community capacity building to help returning Burmese refugees. As a part of effort to raise public awareness in Korean society, she lectured at high schools about refugee issues and civil diplomacy. Sue enjoys working on the topics of asylum protection and forced migration, and has a strong desire to be a professional in the field of humanitarian assistance and emergency relief.

Role at Host Organization: As a Campaign Fellow, Sue will provide critical support to the Strategic Intervention team, assisting the team in its effort to eradicate modern day slavery by combating sex trafficking. She will support the team as it focuses on grassroots action campaigns, legislative advocacy, law enforcement engagement, and bilateral collaboration with source-country stakeholders, providing unique capacity to the Korean community.
Samita Thapa
Nepal (Host: TechChange)Samita has a strong background in research, writing, and communications. Samita has previously assisted the communications and marketing teams of TechChange, a social enterprise providing online courses for international development professionals. Prior to TechChange, she worked at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants where she communicated with 33 affiliate agencies around the U.S. and was responsible for an online training to ensure compliance-based refugee resettlement. Samita earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Goshen College in Indiana, and as a senior in college she initiated a semester-long internship with the local office of the Mennonite Central Committee, a relief and development organization. There, she researched and reviewed documents for a training for U.S. immigration advocates. Before starting college, she volunteered as a teaching assistant in an international school in Nepal. Samita is passionate about assisting in the development of Nepal, especially in the education sector. She is especially interested in the empowerment of women through education.

Role at Host Organization: Samita will communicate with TechChange’s domestic and international clients on a daily basis as well as manage TechChange’s social media accounts. She will create marketing campaigns for TechChange’s courses and approach new partnership opportunities.
Ruth Kim
South Korea (Host: Pyxera Global)Ruth has over three years of experience in the nonprofit sector and earned her Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Architecture and Urban Design from Handong Global University in Korea. Ruth initially worked at Haeahn Architecture for four years as an architect in training where she operated as an intermediary between Korean and foreign firms and translated Korean-English documents. At the end of Ruth’s four year apprenticeship, she decided to make a career change to one which involved the social issues that she is passionate about, and utilized her professional skills. She most recently worked as a Vision Trip Specialist for Compassion Korea, an international nonprofit child advocacy organization focused of relieving child poverty. For the past three years, she has coordinated and co-hosted trips to countries all over the world for individuals, corporations, VIPs, youths, church groups, advocates and other interest groups. She also planned and executed events for sponsors that have been on trips to ensure and expand future sponsorship and commitment. Through these experiences she has developed skills in leadership, communication, management and project coordination and implementation.

Role at Host Organization: Ruth will join Pyxera Global as a communications and public affairs fellow. She will support and eventually lead, the planning and execution of various seminars/events including PYXERA Global’s 25th anniversary. She will manage the overall event design, supportive brand building and communications, audio-visual production, budgeting, logistics, managing vendors and ensuring a good client/participant experience.
Mohammad Jamal Asideh
Palestinian Territories (Host: Cure Violence)Mohammad has 4 years of experience with OneVoice Organization as a Program Officer, advocating for the two states solution; running several campaigns, trainings, and activities that aim to raise awareness toward Middle-East peace process, and the challenges that the Palestinian new generation faces. He graduated from An-Najah National University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Mohammad volunteered with Tomorrow’s Youth organization in Palestine, working closely with youth in refugee camps, and neglected areas helping, and creating better opportunities for the Palestinian children in refugee camps. He has spoken at universities, political, and social centers in many countries addressing the history and future aspiration for the Middle East conflict. Mohammad won the Generations For Peace Samsung Award for Impact, for his own personal journey of change with Generations For Peace and his impact: training 300 leaders of youth, and involving more than 3,500 children in five Palestinian cities.
Host Organization: Cure Violence
Role at Host Organization: Mohammad will identify, apply, replicate, and manage adaptations, of the Cure Violence model for reducing violence. Also, he will help to expand Cure Violence’s work in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Luther Dorbor Jeke
Liberia (Host: Creative Associates International)Luther has three years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from the African Methodist Episcopal University in Liberia. In his most recent capacity at iLab Liberia as the Director of Training, Luther and his team have provided more than 1,250 Liberians the opportunity to use iLab’s computer lab and gain new technology skills. Previously, Luther worked as Training Director of Ushahidi Liberia, a nonprofit tech camp that specializes in developing free and open source software for information collection, visualization and interactive mapping. Luther served as an exemplary leader in the Monrovia crisis, and partnered with the United Nations, the Government of Liberia, NGO’s and civil society on using technology to map conflict and instability in Liberia. Luther is passionate about using technology for social good, particularly in the areas of using Crisis Mapping Technologies (Ushahidi, Crowdmap, SwiftRiver, basic GIS) to prevent conflict.
Host Organization: Creative Associates International
Role at Host Organization: Luther will provide support to the Technology for Development (T4D) unit in the Cross-Functional Group (CFG), which is responsible for incubating new ideas of how to use technology interventions. He will also work as a development agency contractor by learning about the latest in information and communication technologies for development and contributing innovative ideas that have potential for funding.
Lawrence Yealue
Liberia (Host: Accountability Lab)Lawrence received a BA in Human Resource Management from Wisconsin International University College in Ghana, as well as certificates of training in: securities trading; banking; analytical problem solving; organizational leadership; team playing and report writing; public speaking and presentation skills; international youth leadership; HIV/AIDS; conflict management and mediation; peace building; and a peace ambassador. He most recently worked as the Assistant Project Coordinator of the Business Start-Up Center Monrovia (BSC). Previously, he served as Electoral Commissioner for the Liberian Student Association-Ghana, National Coordinator for the World Youth Spirit Council, Project Director for the Rotaract Club of Wisconsin, and a volunteer for Africa Peace’s HIV/AIDS Education & Peace Initiative in Benin. He also founded and directed Liberian Youth for Peace & Development (LIRYPAD), and worked as a teacher, dean, and HR personnel for community schools in Ghana.

Role at Host Organization: Lawrence will serve as coordinator for Accountability Lab for its activities in West Africa, conducting research, developing project ideas, building relevant networks, and conducting outreach.
Hyun-jung (H.Kelly) Shin
South Korea (Host: Global Good Fund)Hyun-jung has ten years of work experience in the for-profit sector as a professional marketer. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature with a minor in Mass Communication and Global MBA at Korea University in South Korea. She previously worked at Amway Korea, CJ CheilJedang Corporation, and Double A Korea. Hyun-jung is experienced at CSR marketing, integrated marketing communication, brand management, new product development, marketing research and business data analysis. Hyun-jung’s interest in social entrepreneurship and leadership motivated her to help young social ventures as a pro bono marketing consultant, and she launched a three month social consulting academic program for university students. She has also designed and implemented a fundraising campaign to build a toy library for orphaned children. With her strong marketing background, she wants to devote herself to work in the non-profit sector in the future, with the goal to become part of making a better global community.

Role at Host Organization: Hyun-jung will work to manage portfolio of current and alumni Global Good Fund Fellows ensuring the Fellowship accelerates their leadership development. Not only will she identify and vet 2016 Global Good Fellows, she will also develop commercialization of leadership products.
Huma Sattar
Pakistan (Host: Heritage Foundation)Huma specializes in regional trade, trade policy and public sector development. She holds a Bachelors’ degree in Mathematics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) minoring in Economics and Philosophy. She has worked as an analyst at the Pakistan Business Council since 2012 contributing to several publications centered on Pakistan’s trade relations with emerging economies in the region, particularly China and India. Her work broadly aims to assess the development or lack thereof in Pakistan’s trade infrastructure in light of the changing political landscape, economic restrictiveness, bilateral and multilateral trade cooperation agreements and policy reforms. Her research identifies key focus areas at industry and government levels for Pakistan to create pathways for a sustainable growth in the mid and long term. She worked closely with the Pakistan Economic Forum to facilitate dialogue amongst policy makers, economic experts and academics on issues of trade, economic stability, energy and education. She is also a coordinator on the Pakistan side for the Pakistan India Joint Business Forum that consists of business leaders on both sides actively involved in the process of trade normalization between the two countries. She assisted the forum in making recommendations to the two governments on mutual opportunities and trade policy matters.
Host Organization: Heritage Foundation
Role at Host Organization: Huma will undertake an independent research project focused on economic freedom and development in the South and South East Asian region closely studying rule of law, governance, regulation and open markets. She will also contribute in developing the next edition of the Index for Economic Freedom published annually by the Heritage Foundation.
