With a network of around 775 Fellows from 96 countries specializing in a diverse array of professional fields, many Atlas Corps Alumni and current Fellows are making inspiring impacts against COVID-19. It is time to celebrate these achievements of our amazing network and share their advice on how we can all do our part to protect and support each other.

Today we want to talk with our current Fellow Aaron (Class 37, Uganda, Host: American Red Cross) who are serving at the American Red Cross. As a member of its Global Disaster Preparedness Center, Aaron is leading and supporting dissemination of COVID-19 information via the Red Cross First Aid App.

Thank you Aaron for everything that you do to increase awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic! We wish you all the best with this impactful work!

Please share with us how you are working to fight against COVID-19?

At the Global Disaster Preparedness Center, I am supporting, coordinating, and leading the implementation and dissemination of COVID-19 information via the First Aid App. The digital application I am scaling is a knowledge management tool for disaster preparedness. It allows to share information with over 108 Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies worldwide. The application has been effectively adopted by many end-users transforming the way we interact with the world.

In partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the First Aid App has received high acceptance by Red Cross and Red Crescent societies globally. I have been able to train over 60 national societies on how to share COVID-19 information via the IFRC First Aid App. The use of the application has increased awareness about the current pandemic and has helped protect communities from the risk of further infection.

You can download free First Aid App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, select your country, and get up-to-date information about the pandemic.

Do you have anything you would like to say to everybody about how we can all do our part in this pandemic?

I encourage everyone to wear a mask when venturing into public spaces, to keep at least 6 feet from people in public, to avoid crowds. But more important is to keep your mind occupied to avoid anxiety by participating in active physical exercises at least once a day. Lastly, keep your loved ones close and always stay connected with your family.
