Lately, the word GLOBAL had become pretty trendy. Conducting and combining to new concepts. The past couple years, I had been using the term Global Citizen, thanks to the opportunity to travel, live and experience in different countries, different situations that had lead me to considered myself a Global Citizen.
Global Citizen gain an expansion of their knowledge, consciousness and understanding through the experience to travel to new countries, that brings context (social, cultural, political, educational) producing transformation in their global vision.
But, what is to be a Global Citizen living in a Global Community? (Like the Atlas Corps fellows community) Well, let me get in the subject: “Yes, I had been living. And Yes, I am learning. And Yes, finally I am growing.”
I am living surround by fellows coming for such a diverse and variety cultural backgrounds (that it goes beyond a country, and it gets you closer to their personal identification)
I am learning from the history of their countries through their personal life stories! And the word to describe this stage is: POWERFUL. Why? Because finally, I had the chance to travel beyond a book, a flight or a documentary. I am learning that, the most significant part of history has the face of people, the face of my fellows.
I can say I am growing. But the meaningful part to grow, is to realize that you are doing in a community (altogether). Facing challenge, celebrating differences and sharing a main goal: bring the best of this opportunity.
And finally, I am blessed to being able to shared one of the best stage of my life, surround by these so diverse, unique and powerful community: My Atlas Corps Fellows Community.
