Tell us about projects you have worked on?
I’ve worked in two roles at Comic Relief to create a just world free from poverty, using the power of entertainment. Currently, I am working as a passionate data analyst driving Data and Insights at Comic Relief. My responsibilities include collating and analyzing data relating to social investment portfolios and fundraising campaigns such as Red Nose Day. I am also responsible for facilitating the decision-making of the senior management team and trustees by providing monthly data-informed reports with insights on social investments and maintaining the quality and accuracy of datasets on the investment management system; reporting on social investment data and insights to partners (i.e., the BBC, British Airways, TKmaxx, and Sainsbury’s), and open data initiatives (i.e., 360 Giving, IATI, and OECD) and championing learning and openness across the organization by proactively and creatively providing data-based insights using analysis and visualization tools
I was very honored to lead the grant-making for the first-ever Red Nose Day in China in my previous role. In this position, my responsibilities included devising and driving forward the implementation of grant-making strategy and governance structure for the unprecedented Red Nose Day China; building and developing relationships with a portfolio of potential and strategically important grantees in China and Africa; leading on a robust grant-making process of Red Nose Day China projects in China, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sudan, including due-diligence checks, assessments, monitoring, and evaluation trips, advisory group meetings; supporting compelling communications and understanding for a sustainable partnership of Red Nose Day China and facilitating language and cultural understanding of China and the UK.
Why is it important for you to work with poverty eradication projects?
I’m passionate about DEI, transparency, and technology. Working with data gives me opportunities to use an evidence-based approach and creativity to show the big picture, facilitate learning and decision-making for social change.
How has Atlas Corps contributed to your professional and personal accomplishments?
Atlas Corps has provided me with a life-changing opportunity to serve at my host organization Youth For Understanding USA that is linked to my passion and experience and expanded my leadership skills by working on Intercultural Exchange Programs with different teams. The training provided by Atlas Corps throughout the year was so diverse and valuable, during which I enjoyed learning with/from fellow Fellows from all over the world. I’ve also made so many good friends. They say: now you have a home in the world.
What is your favorite Atlas Corps memory?
There are so many. If I have to say the favorite, that’s definitely the time when I was with the fellow Fellows, be it GLL, dancing, cooking, ice skating, day trips, etc.
What advice do you have for applicants and current Fellows?
Make the best of the opportunity and interact with your fellow Fellows and Scholars as much as possible. This is your best chance to learn from talents from all over the world.
What message would you like to send to individuals who support Atlas Corps?
You’ve made the best decision to support such a great organization to promote sustainable leadership in the world.
