As 2019 draws to a close, I want to say Thank You! You helped us achieve a lot in one decade. In December 2009, Atlas Corps had supported only 25 Fellows from 7 countries. Now, as we approach the end of a decade, we are a diverse global community of more than 750 professionals from 95 countries. You got us here. You have grown with us. Will You continue to support us as we embark on a new decade?
When you invest in Atlas Corps, you support leaders to develop their capacity AND to strengthen the organization where they serve. Of our Fellows, 98% leave the United States at the end of their Fellowship and 85% attribute the Fellowship to helping them achieve their current professional roles. Our Alumni Lucia (Nicaragua, Host: Latin American Youth Center) served a year in Washington, DC, focused on youth development. Lucia now leads youth empowerment activities in Central America. Or, Rehema (Uganda, Host: Women Deliver) returned to Uganda to found an organization to fight unemployment. “Serving for one year as an Atlas Corps Fellow,” shared Rehema, “gave me the ground to dream and to start my young adult focused organization, Re!gnite Africa.” Lucia and Rehema are just two examples of the long-term impact our Fellows have at home and abroad. When you support Atlas Corps, you support social change professionals committed to positive change! If you want to achieve an impact, donate to Atlas Corps.
In 2019, our annual theme is diversity and inclusion. This year we added new countries to our community, including Indonesia and Israel. We’ve supported Fellows from every region of the world, every major religion, every major race and ethnic group, different sexual orientations, and a wide variety of political and social backgrounds. We continue to make valuable strides in demonstrating the importance of diverse perspectives and inclusive approaches to global engagement.
Join us in lifting up these leaders!
Please support Atlas Corps Fellows like Lucia and Rehema before the end of the year. Invest in our Fellows today at donate.atlascorps.org.
Thank you for being part of this dynamic community. Let’s make the next decade even more memorable!
Sincerely,
Scott Beale

Alumna Leads Youth Empowerment Activities in Central America
Congratulations to Atlas Corps Fellow Lucia (Nicaragua, Class 16, Host: Latin American Youth Center) for being appointed Director of Programs and Operations with SERES, a Guatemalan-based nonprofit committed to supporting at-risk youth from low-income, marginalized, and vulnerable groups. Their approach is to encourage new leadership styles amongst youth. Lucia said that her Fellowship impacted her life sharing:
“Atlas Corps represents an inclusive, vibrant, and thriving global tribe of the most compassionate, highly prepared, and intentional professionals who believe in social transformation through daily ethical actions towards the good of our communities!”
We are so proud of Lucia and we inspired by her continued commitment to empowering youth!
Alumna Founded Re!gnite Africa to Tackle Unemployment in Uganda
With a network of 750 professionals from 95 countries, the Atlas Corps Community is growing every day. Today, we share the story of our Alumna Rehema (Uganda, Class 14, Host: Women Deliver) — pictured far right. Returning home after the Fellowship, Rehema founded a nonprofit organization, Re!gnite Africa, to tackle unemployment in Uganda.
“Serving for one year as an Atlas Corps Fellow gave me the ground to dream and to start my young adult focused organization, Re!gnite Africa. Our mission is to tackle unemployment in Uganda. I came back home in 2015 more confident and determined to start my nonprofit organization that has directly changed the lives of more than 300 young adults and leaders, and impacted more than 5,000 people all over Uganda and beyond.”
We are so proud of Rehema and she shows how investing in one Atlas Corps Fellow can change thousands of lives!
